Okay, James took some time this afternoon to take a look at some things league wide, which you can see here: t80hl.com/T80RatingsInfo.htmlWe've identified some points of concern that should be addressed and as such, we're looking for input from everyone to try and find a way to correct some of those issues. For starters, after looking at the numbers, curtailing DI points would definitely lead to a regression in that number. As such, as of this moment, there will be no change to the DI system. Each team will have 15 DI points to allocate during the offseason and at midseason with camps. One thing that we've seen issues with is that EX and LD are eroding. We're looking for ideas as to how to work on that. Be it coming up with a set number of points that can be used to bolster those like the DI, or creating another camp (which could be used in addition to the regular camps) to help with that situation...basically, it's open to ideas. The other major one is the lack of upward trend regarding EN and DU. It's a similar situation...we can potentially create another camp or it could be another thing where points could be allocated. If you have thoughts or ideas as to how to improve things on those fronts, chime in here so we can figure out the best way to resolve this situation favorably.

I put a few ideas in Slack the other day, but here's what I've got:
1. Commish adds X amount of EX points to every player each season. I say EX only because it makes sense that as a season passes, players get more experienced but don't necessarily become better leaders. To help with LD, increase the amount of LD points players get for being named captain or alternate captain. 2. Add camp(s) for EX/LD, and change the camp structure to allow camps that focus mainly on EN/DU and EX/LD to not count towards the maximum of four. Set a cap on the number of these camps that can be used as well.
3. Similar to the current 15 free DI points, add free points for EN/DU and EX/LD. I haven't thought this idea out too much, but it could be something like 20 EN/DU and 20 EX/LD points (with a maximum of 5 points per attribute per player). Teams aren't required to split the points evenly, and can choose to use 20 points on EN for example (with the maximum of 5 points per attribute, they would have to be giving at least four different players the points).
4. Performance-based re-rates. In the off-season, each team can request the commish to review X amount of players based on the number of games they played the previous season and adjust their EN/DU/EX accordingly. EN would be tough to judge seeing as FHLSim doesn't track TOI.

Good ol' FHL logic. Somehow players lose EXperience the longer they play. lol. I'd have to say the same could be said for DI as well. Generally, NHL players get a little softer in their golden years - but FHL re-rates will still lower DI on players in their mid 30's and up. (shrug) what can you do..
I think if you are going to go in and add X amount of EX to every player across the board, then you should hit DI (for every player) at the same time. I think you are going to maintain a little more realism keeping DI accordingly spaced out across the board then if you start handing out too many free to use as you want DI points. Speaking from my end - im likely (and already have) going to target my lowest DI rated players right from the get go. So, within a couple of more seasons - Ill likely have all my core starting roster with no DI rating lower then 70. Through the 1st season and a half - I was able to give Claude Lemieux +15 in DI. He's no longer a liability (penalty wise) on the ice for me anymore then Richer is. just an example for you to think about.
If you feel EN/DU is low and needs help as well - then that would be good situation to have the free to use points. maybe just cap players at 85-90 EN/DU (or something) to prevent anyone from trying to make some sort of robocop forward or something.

I updated the ratings page. The averages for SC and DF were being brought down because it was counting goalies.
