Oilers - Selanne RW 18 78
The great 8 before the great 8? This pick is a no brainer for Edmonton. Selanne. His ability to play on either L or R is huge. Oh yeah, he has years of being centred by Super Mario. DEADLYYYYYY
Kings - Mogilny RW 19 75
With the 1st line C ” the Great One “and LW ”Lucky Luc” positions locked up the kings would be best suited to take someone on the RW or D in this spot. Rechhi or Mogilny could jump in right away ... or do they lean towards shaping up the back end to help out Barrasso? I think the Kings go w ALMO and have one of best lines, if not the best, in t80 by the time its t90.
Leafs - Broduer G 16 99 / Brind'Amour C 18 75
The Devils select w the 3rd OV pick ... oh wait … Al traded this pick. Mike selects w/ this pick Brind'Amour for his ability to play the LW. Damphousse and Kurri would compliment Brind’Amours style of play. The upcoming star power of Schnieder, Damphousse plusssss Brind’Amour. The future is bright for the Leafs and they should be in the playoff hunt real soon.
Bruins - Modano C 18 76
The bruins had shit luck this season. Losing the last 4 games of the season and finishing the only plus team out of the playoffs, while 2 minus teams made it in. The bruins have a soliddddd team(pre-UFA) and I am confused why they dropped this low. With their 2nd, 3rd and 4th line C potentially stepping away via free agency the balck and gold will look to Modano. He can step in and fill the spot that will be left by Federko. He can lead, he can score and he be everything Nathan needs him to be and more.
Canucks - Blake D 18 75
With 5th OV selection the Canucks look to add Blake as the final piece to their D rebuild/retool/revamp, since the start of the inaugural season. The greatest team in the world feel that building the D is critical to the fast paced game of the upcoming 90s decade.
Leafs - Recchi RW 20 77
Ohhh Babyyyy … Welcome back to the podium! This pick could land the Leafs either Recchi or Roenick. Either one is a great pick by a team that has 2 picks in the 1st round over the next 2 drafts.
Flyers - Roenick C 18 75
The flyers should take the last of the remaining BPA before we start seeing some age jumps and OV differences. Roenick goes to a team ready to give him the helm and potential 1st line duties. Great pick this late in the draft. The 88 draft year is deep and any player picked above this selection 18 years old would have competed w Sakic last year as 1st OV.
Wings - Amonte RW 18 74
True gritty players that doesn’t miss games ... ability to score on a consistent basis ... future HOFer? Tony could see himself paired up w the likes of Stevie Y or even Mr. Oates himself. This selection could fill a spot on the wings wing(say that 5 times fast) or is he left on the farm for other players to use up that valuable camp positions?
Whalers - Hedican D 18 71
Hedican could stay on the farm for a few years to develop, bringing him up to early could cap him out as a second pairing unit w/ limited camps. However, if the whalers do elect to bring him up for the upcoming season, they could prioritize this little rascal at camp(s) and watch him bloom.
Flames - Linden C 18 72
Linden steps in to the sea of red w/ open arms. With a fair amnt of youth already in the pipeline they will have no problem leaving this curly headed fu...ture captain in the farm.
Had some fun putting this together quickly while I worked today. Hope everyone gets a laugh or at least some entertainment out of it.
